James F. “Uncle” Higgs, 87, of South Fulton died March 10, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
There will be no services. A memorial visitation is planned for 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton.
He was born May 17, 1923, in Weakley County, son of the late Edward Guy and Mary Elizabeth (Coleman) Higgs. He was the widower of Mary Louise (Moon) Higgs and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He had lived in the area all his life and had owned the former Broadway Grill.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Tina Adams and her husband, Brandon Adams, of Union City; and Marty Higgs of Fulton.
He was also preceded in death by his sister and two brothers.
