Applications are now available for scholarship awards to be presented by the Junior Auxiliary of Obion County.
The mission of JA’s Obion County Scholarship Committee is to seek and distribute scholarship awards on behalf of the chapter to further the education of students in Obion County.
In addition, it is the com-mittee’s mission to distribute the funds based on certain criteria established prior to the application and not solely on academic performance.
The Scholarship Com-mittee feels the desire of the student to further his or her education is of the utmost importance and the student’s past civic and cultural activities or experiences will be examined.
The Junior Auxiliary of Obion County has placed scholarship applications at each of the three local high schools and members are encouraging seniors who are furthering their educations to apply. The applications will be available through April 18 and must be returned to school guidance counselors before that date in order to be postmarked or picked up April 18.
The recipients will be announced by May 2.
For more information about applying, e-mail Theresa Corley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“It is our honor to assist Obion County students financially in their quest for higher education,” Mrs. Corley said.
