The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women held their February meeting at Stanley’s Chapel United Methodist Church with 12 members present.
President Chris Cheatham gave the welcome, followed by prayer led by Mrs. Becky Barnes after many concerns and joys. Mrs. Cheatham led the group in the purpose after which, Mrs. Sandra McTurner presented the prayer calendar. A letter from Laura Wells, a former church and community worker, was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Emily Haynes read the minutes and Mrs. Leanne Parnell gave the treasurer’s report.
Mrs. Kathy Forrester offered the Esther moment. Wearing a beautiful jeweled shawl, she became Esther who questioned, “Why has God placed me in such a time as this?” but later concluded, “If I perish, I perish – God is in control.” Mrs. Leanne Parnell will present Chapter 5 in March.
Mrs. Cheatham was in charge of the program entitled “For the Love of God: John’s Letters” written by Sharon Delgado. Participants were Mrs. Roberta Peacock, Mrs. Linda Winstead, Mrs. Becky Barnes and Mrs. Emily Haynes. The goal of the program was to hear the message of love in John’s letters and reflect on how love is the foundation for community relationships and our work together as women in mission. The focal point was a special poster of pictures of the members affixed to paper lace hearts. Miss Jerry Darnell gave valentine’s entitled “True Love,” taken from John 3:16.
The March meeting will be on Ash Wednesday, March 9, at 7 p.m.
