Estella Roberson, 83, of Hornbeak died March 4, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services were 3 p.m. Saturday at Wynnburg Baptist Church with the Revs. Chip Davis and Charles Southerland officiating. Burial followed in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Dyersburg Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Dave Roberson, Randy Shane Roberson, Josh Roberson, Anthony Roberson, Matthew Tippit and Colton Quick. Honorary pallbearers were George Hall and deacons of Wynnburg Baptist Church.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Wynnburg Baptist Church.
She was born Dec. 25, 1927, daughter of the late Robert and Levie (Smithson) Mathis. She married Buddy Roberson Feb. 2, 1947. He survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for almost 50 years.
Survivors also include three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Donna Roberson of Hornbeak and Randy and Daphne Roberson and Terry and Mary Nell Roberson, all of Union City; her brother, Golden Mathis of Troy; and 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Allie Mathis and Mai Gantlett; and two brothers, Gaither Mathis and William Lewis Mathis.
