A FIESTA FOR THE CHILDREN – It is time once again for the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse serving Weakley and Obion counties to present its largest annual fundraiser – the Taste of Weakley and Obion Counties Gala and Auction. This year’s theme is “Southwestern Fiesta: Celebrating the Children.” Sponsors are being called, auction items are being gathered and restaurants are planning their menus. Celebrating the area’s children are (back, clockwise form left) Carl Perkins staff member Debbie Hopper, Amber Robey of the Legacy Restaurant, Americorps volunteer Emily Thomas, Kim Longacre of The Looking Glass Coffeehouse and Curiosities, Winnie Taylor of Winnie’s Catering, Mattie Fowlkes of The Sweet Tooth, Carl Perkins Board member Teri Towe, Kevin Hernell of Higher Ground Coffee, Carl Perkins Center Director Lori Hendon, Olivia Wilson of Olivia’s Opera House, Lance Young of Pepsi Mid-America and Randy Gregory of Volunteer Distributing, the host of the annual event. The gala is set for Saturday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $25. Call the Center at 587-0678.
