NASHVILLE -Milan product Perica Glenn scored 14 of her career-high 18 points in the second half and added 10 rebounds to help UT Martin beat Morehead State 79-69 Friday afternoon and earn a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship.

Glenn, a member of a talented rural West Tennessee class of freshmen at UTM, was instrumental with eight of her markers in a telling 17-2 run midway through the second half after MSU had closed to within 48-47 with 11:20 to play.

The No. 2 seeded Skyhawks (20-10) will play OVC regular season champion Tennessee Tech (23-6) for the postseason league championship and an automatic NCAA Tournament berth Saturday at 3 p.m.

UTM has never won an OVC title since joining the conference in 1992 — losing its previous two trips to the championship round.

Another of the Skyhawks’ talented frosh, Gibson County High School prep standout Heather Butler who was named the league’s Freshman of the Year earlier this week, led UTM with 21 points.

Butler’s backcourt mate and fellow college newcomer Jasmine Newsome — named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year — added 20 points.
