Love is in the air! We are in full preparation for our annual Couples Only Dinner held each Valentine’s Day. We had eight couples in attendance for the candlelit dinner. They dined on Cornish Game Hens, dressing, green beans, rolls and strawberry short cake. Each was seated at a private table decorated with festive flowers, wine glasses and decorations. Easy-listening music was played overhead. It is always a wonderful occasion and we love celebrating our couples on this special day! At 2 p.m. on Valentine’s Day we held our facility-wide party. The room was brought to life with lots of balloons, flowers and tons of red, pink and purple hearts. The residents enjoyed croissant sandwiches, chips and dips, cookies, and delicious Valentine’s cupcakes.

Each was also treated to a specialty fortune cookie dipped in white chocolate and sprinkles that matched the occasion. This time more festive music was played and everyone had a great time visiting and partying together.

Our arts and crafts session this week featured Valentine’s Day. The residents put their creative skills to great use in our Sweethearts Explosion. They took conversation hearts and filled a page to make it appear as the box was pouring out everywhere. They did marvelous and their handy work can be seen in the activity room or on their doors.

The Cover Card winners were Lillian Melton, Sue Bailey, Inez Spence, Nancy Mansfield, Jean Brock, Maybelle Killebrew, and Geneva Foster. Each of these lucky winners received $1 for their completed bingo cards.

For one-line Bingo on Thursdays, we play until everyone wins! Each of the players received a chance at the prize bin filled with tons of delicious goodies.

Our sports competitions were top notch this week. The rounds were close and each resident brought their A-game! Mignon Mayo was the victor at Top Toss. She scored an amazingly high score, but it barely beat out her runner-up Barry Flowers. Thyra Provine proved best at Shuffleboard while her second place finisher was Ray Crowell. Each did outstanding!  On Friday afternoon the residents were treated to a special show. In honor of the Castlemans’ 69th anniversary the family brought cake for all to enjoy and they also put on a wonderful musical performance. It was a wonderful party and we were all delighted to be a part of the celebration.  Two other great musically performances took place this weekend. The Doster Family packed the house on Friday evening and did an amazing job. They are such a talented family and we enjoy having them with us each month. Violet Totty and the Good Timers were back with us on Sunday and just as always they did remarkable. They have such great voices and you can tell how much they love to sing and share!Dresden First United Methodist Church was with us Tuesday afternoon. They did a terrific job with song service and devotional. We continue to be blessed to have them each second Tuesday of the month.  Siloam Baptist Church amazed us all by showing up and providing Wednesday evening services despite the huge snow storm we experienced. The residents bragged about them all day on Thursday! Dresden First Baptist Church and Macedonia Church of Christ were with us on Sunday morning for our worship services. We are so fortunate to have them each week offering wonderful services with such ease for our residents. Thank you all!
