SCOUTING IT OUT
Posted: Tuesday, March 1, 2011 6:26 am SCOUTING IT OUT — Louis Sirriani (left), president of E. Verner Johnson and Associates, uses the architectural drawings he is presenting for Discovery Park of America to explain the design and architectural work that goes into such a project to members of Troy’s Pack 54 Thursday evening. Matthew Hooks (continuing from left) and Zackary Narr, son of troop leaders Jackie and Terry Narr of Troy, are working on their engineering badges. The session took place at the close of an afternoon in which architects, exhibit designers and exhibit builders reviewed plans for the multi-million dollar education, entertainment and tourism complex whose construction will begin soon in Union City. Sirriani is submitting the final plans for the project on schedule today and the well-known museum architect says he is excited about moving forward rapidly. The project’s contractor, Allen Searcy Building Contractor of Union City, will now be able to proceed with seeking bids from subcontractors. Exhibit designers also detailed their most recent plans and said they will be returning to Union City in March to present their estimates of expenses associated with showcasing the many items DPA committees have already collected and are looking to purchase in the future. At that point, more decisions will be made about what the public will be able to see when the project opens and what will be featured in planned cycles for updating the showcased items.
