Valerie Jane (Harmon) Griffin, 41, of Nashville, a former resident of Union City, died Feb. 23, 2011, at the Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Services were held in Brentwood Saturday, with Austin Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 210830, Nashville, TN 37221; the Humane Alliance of Rutherford County, 975 Bridge Ave., Murfreesboro TN 37129; or to the local shelter of the donor’s choice.
Mrs. Griffin was born April 11, 1969, in Memphis, daughter of Pat and Jane Harmon of Nashville.
She graduated from Union City High School and the University of Tennessee at Martin and worked in the pharmaceutical sales field 11 years for companies including Johnson & Johnson, Organon and TEVA. She also enjoyed traveling, water skiing, concerts and sporting events and was involved in animal rescue. She was an active member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Brentwood.
She is also survived by her husband, Sheldon Griffin; her brother, Joel Harmon, her mother-in-law, Jane Griffin; her father-in-law, George Griffin; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Corinne and Bain Chapman; two nephews, Miller Chapman and Knox Chapman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
