Two groups of Gibson Electric Membership Corp. customer-owners experienced power outages this morning, with both outages caused by lightning.
The first outage began at 4:59 and affected 1,261 customer-owners along Lake Road and in and around Samburg. Crews restored service to all but about 80 customers at 6:19. Service was restored to the remaining customers affected by this outage at 7:41.
The second outage began at 5:11. and affected 577 customer-owners along the Ken-Tenn Highway near Union City. Service was restored to about half of these customers at 5:59 and to everyone at 6:17, according to Rita Alexander, vice president of human resources and communications for Gibson EMC.
