Completed arrangements are being announced for Stephen R. “Steve” Byars, 50, of Union City, who died 3 p.m. Feb. 21, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. The Revs. Jerry Leggett and Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Kurt Dugger, Ben Killebrew, Randy Molands, Frankie Molands, Jamie Byars, Tony Eaves, Buster Tuck and David Tuck. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Union City Second Baptist Church.
The family requests that memorials be made to Union City Second Baptist Church bus fund, 831 North Everett Blvd., Union City, TN 38261.
He was born April 26, 1960, in Plymouth, Mich., son of the late Ralph and Doris Helen (Jimmerson) Byars. He was employed as a floor tech at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. A member of Union City Second Baptist Church, he had served on the bus committee and was a bus driver and a nursery volunteer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Tuck) Byars, whom he married Dec. 12, 1980; his son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Sarah Elizabeth Byars of Marion, Ark.; his grandson, Stephen Thomas Byars of Marion; two sisters, Beverly Molands and Cathy Reynolds, both of Union City; his mother-in-law, Ouida Osborne of Union City; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Carol Byars of Union City; and three brothers-in-law and the spouses of two, Paul Mark Tuck of White City, Kan., and Buster and Lockie Tuck and David and Tammy Tuck, all of Union City.
He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Leigh Ann Byars; his grandson, Micah Gibson Byars; his granddaughter, Emma Claire Byars; three brothers, Ralph Edward Byars, Rick Byars and Stewart Byars; and an infant sister.
