Completed arrangements are being announced for Joey W. Guest, 41, of Martin, who died at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin Feb. 20, 2011, as the result of a motorcycle accident in the Mount Pelia community in Weakley County that afternoon.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Martin Church of Christ, with Danny Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Hatler’s Chapel Cemetery in Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Hobart Beale, Gary Capers, Joe Lofaro, Jim Steele, Dave Murphy, Jason Menees, Bryan Harding, Chad Yates, Randy Kemp, Allen Knapp, Chuck Lewis, Chris Laney, Brent Annaratone, Curtis Dortch, Mike Newsom, Kenny Parks, Roger Todd and John David Cole.
Friends may call at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin 5-8 this evening.
He was born June 29, 1969, in Cleveland, son of Shelia (Walker) Thompson of Martin and the late Joe W. Guest Jr. He was married to the former Carol Scott, who survives, and was a graduate of Westview High School in Martin and the University of Tennessee at Martin. He had been employed at Servall and had originated an online sports magazine, The Press Box. He had been sports editor at The Weakley County Press and had written for The Messenger in the past.
He is also survived by his son, Bo C. Guest of Martin; his stepfather, Mike Thompson of Martin; two brothers, Michael Thompson of Clinton, Maine, and Brad Thompson of Troy; his sister, Christel McKee of Martin; his maternal grandparents, T. Joe and Verna Mae Walker; and his uncle, Michael Guest of Cleveland.
