Edward Eugene Ellegood, 85, of Union City died Feb. 22, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert D. Ponticello officiating.
Friends may call at the church from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He was born April 5, 1925, in Fancy Farm, Ky., son of the late Raphael and Agnes (Lee) Ellegood. He married the former Mary Sue Hogg Aug. 9, 1948. She died Oct. 5, 2004. He was a retired employee of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Union City, where he worked for 17 years, and he had also been an employee of the former Lear-Siegler plant in Union City. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he took part in the invasion of North Africa and Sicily.
He is survived by his daughter and his son-in-law, Alison and John Ahrens of Humboldt; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Eddie and Linda Ellegood of Decatur, Ala., and Robert and Donna Ellegood and Mark Ellegood, all of Union City; eight grandchildren, Ryan Ellegood, Julia Ellegood, Joel Ellegood. Ariel Glissen and Taylor Pierce, all of Union City, Stephanie Jenkins and Lindsey Ellegood, both of Decatur, Ala., and Jared Ellegood of Winston, Ore.; two great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Rupert Ellegood of Sullivan, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Cecilia Sergerson and Leola McIntyre; and two brothers, Sam Ellegood and Doyle Ellegood.
