The Gibson County Lady Pioneers denied the Westview Lady Chargers a chance to play for the District 13-AA championship.
Gibson County drilled nine 3-pointers to down Westview, 56-40, in the tourney semifinals Thursday night in Dyersburg.
After trailing 12-10 heading into the second quarter, Westview climbed in front. A Lady Pioneer outburst from 3-point range flipped the Lady Chargers from the lead into the chasing position. By halftime, Gibson County held a 24-19 edge.
The two-time defending state champs stretched their advantage to 42-27 with a big third quarter and then held off every Westview challenge in the fourth quarter to take the 56-40 win.
