Near blizzard-like conditions earlier this month have given way to unseasonably mild conditions. That means it’s time to get out and do a little field work for Union City Turf Management director Chris Crockett (left) and supervisor Robin Francis. The pair was out early today checking the infield at L.H. Ladd Field in Elam Stadium. The field will begin seeing action next month with the St. Jude Classic coming to town and the start of baseball season for Union City High School. Rain in the forecast this week may delay work in Graham Park, but Francis said dirt work and fertilizing is on the schedule.
