Motorcycle accident claims Martin man

A Martin man who worked as an area sports writer died Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash near the Mount Pelia community in Weakley County.
Joey W. Guest, 41, died in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 3:30 p.m. on State Highway 216, about 21⁄2 miles west of Martin, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Guest had worked for The Messenger in the past and was formerly sports editor at The Weakley County Press in Martin. He was currently working as the associate editor of an online sports magazine — www.pressbox1.com.
Tennessee Highway Pa-trol Sgt. Mike Ford reported Guest was eastbound on State Highway 216 when his 2005 Harley-Davidson 20C motorcycle left the left side of the roadway while he was negotiating a curve and overturned. He was wearing a helmet.
Guest was the only person involved in the accident, according to a report from the THP’s Jackson district office.
Murphy Funeral Home in Martin is in charge of funeral arrangements, which were incomplete at press time.
