The host Lady Lions dominated the Clarksburg girls, winning handily 63-8 in the District 13-A Tournament quarterfinals on Monday night in Dresden.
With the victory, Dresden secured its second consecutive berth in the district championship game and a chance to play for the upcoming regional crown.
Dresden, the tourney’s top seed, will next try to tame the upstart McKenzie Lady Rebels in semifinal action at 6 on Thursday night at West Carroll High School in Atwood. McKenzie, the No. 5 seed, upset Huntingdon, 39-36, in their semifinal contest.
Against the eighth-seeded Lady Rockets, Dresden’s defense never let Clarksburg find a rhythm. The Lady Lions held CHS to a single point in the first frame, while filling the nets in their home gym to the tune of 24 first-quarter points.
With the commanding lead, DHS head coach Jonathan West regularly called upon his reserves. The rout grew bigger as Dresden carried a 45-4 lead into the half and led 54-8 after three. The Lady Lions blanked Clarksburg in the fourth for the 63-8 win.
Amy McAlpin (17) and Alex Glisson (11) were the only double-digit scorers.
