Amanda McGaugh Muniz, a former Union City resident, was recently named the 2010-11 Teacher of the Year at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood.
She is a seventh-year business and marketing teacher at Ravenwood, currently teaching business management, virtual enterprise, financial planning and service learning. Beyond the classroom, she sponsors Habitat for Humanity, Future Business Leaders of America and Students Taking a Right Stand.
Mrs. Muniz received a bachelor of science degree in marketing from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a master of business administration from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. She became certified to teach at Oswego State University in upstate New York and received her administrative license by completing the educational leadership program at Trevecca Nazarene University in May 2010.
She and her husband, Michael, reside in Franklin.
