A carport and two vehicles were struck during a hit-and-run accident Tuesday night at a residence at Green Acres Mobile Home Park in Union City.
Police responded about 11:40 p.m. to a complaint of a vehicle striking the residence and leaving the scene.
According to a Union City Police Department report, residents Betty Rittenberry and Glendon Batts, both of 811 West Reelfoot Ave., Lot 36, told police they were inside the residence when a vehicle struck their carport, pushing one of their vehicles into the other.
Police reported Ms. Rittenberry’s vehicle was struck on the passenger side by an unknown vehicle, causing her vehicle to slam the passenger side of the Batts vehicle, which was then pushed into the side of the carport, causing damage to its driver’s side. The driver of the unknown vehicle left the scene.
The carport was damaged and both residents’ vehicles sustained severe damage, according to the report.
