Ownership of Union City’s Hill’s Hardware and Sporting Goods has passed from one generation to another.
The local hardware store is located at 1234 South Second St., where it has been family owned and family operated for 42 years.
The family ownership of the business will continue as former owners Bobby and Wanda Hill have retired and sold the business to their son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Joe and Deby Hill.
An open house is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the store.
Hill’s Hardware and Sporting Goods sells and services a variety of mowing and outdoor power equipment. The business sells Snapper and Dixie Chopper mowers and Stihl equipment. The store is able to cut keys for customers and offers a full selection of camouflage clothing, boots and waders, hunting gear, and carries such well-known lines as Mossy Oak, Gamehide, Carhartt and Wall’s.
The business has a highly trained service department with master service technicians qualified to work on all types of lawn equipment.
“Our plans for the spring are to target local lawn mowing and landscaping contractors with great offers on our supplies and equipment,” Hill said.
In addition to the lawn care side of the business, the store is also known for its full line of hunting and shooting supplies.
David Taylor has rejoined the staff at Hill’s Hardware and Sporting Goods and has been busy working with clients on all their gun needs. The business has a fully stocked line of new and used guns as well as a complete line of ammunition, gun parts and accessories.
Customers who stop by the open house will notice the new owners of Hill’s Hardware have made some changes to the store’s layout.
Hill’s Hardware and Sporting Goods is open from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays.
