Sallie Belle Fox, 97, of Pensacola, Fla., a former resident of Union City, died Feb. 3, 2011, at Bayside Manor in Pensacola.
Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Carrollton, Miss., with Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola and Wilson-Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, Miss., in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call at Wilson-Knight Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
The family requests that memorials be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607; or New Bethel Baptist Church building fund, 1224 County Road 121, Carrollton, MS 38917.
Mrs. Fox was born March 5, 1913, in Carroll County, Miss., the second child of the late Everette and Mamie (Chatham) Wigley. She was the widow of John T. Fox, who died in 1990 after 58 years of marriage.
The family moved to this area in 1953 and lived here for several years. Mrs. Fox had been employed at the former Burnett’s Shoe Store in Union City for more than 30 years and had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City. She had also been a member of Union City First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Merwyn Schwartz of Riverside, Calif.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Col. John and Henrianne Fox of Fayetteville, N.C., and Capt. Frank and Joan Fox of Pensacola; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Key Clark of Oak Grove, La.; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
She was also preceded in death by seven siblings.
