Central alum Fussell
earns Big 12 honor
University of Texas freshman guard Chassidy Fussell — an Obion Central product — has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week.
It is the third time that Fussell, who became the first-ever Miss Basketball winner at OC a year ago, has earned the honor this season.
Fussell scored 25 points — one shy of her career-high — in the Longhorns’ 80-68 win over Kansas on Saturday.
It was Fussell’s 20th double-digit scoring effort of the season. She led the Longhorns in scoring for the 10th time.
The 5-foot-10 guard has reached the 20-point mark 12 times this season and in all but one Big 12 game.
The Texas women begin a two-game conference road swing tonight at Kansas State.
