McClanahans celebrate golden anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Billy McClanahan of South Fulton recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party, hosted by their children.
He married the former Pansy Ellis Dec. 22, 1960, in Chapmanville, W.Va. Vernon Mullins officiated the ceremony.
She is the daughter of the late Clarence and Ida Ellis of Chapmanville. He is the son of the late Walter and Bessie McClanahan of South Fulton. They are the parents of Deborah McKinney of Fulton and Billy McClanahan Jr. of Bonnie Lake, Wash. They have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The event was held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in South Fulton. Dinner and cake were served.
The fellowship hall was decorated in white and gold, with 100 long-stemmed white roses placed throughout the room.
A white three-tiered cake, accented in shimmering gold, was the focal point of the room.
Out-of-town guests included Billy McClanahan Jr. and Brandon McClanahan of Bonnie Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Verne and Michelle, Rebecca and Justin Fanning, all of Waukegan, Ill.; and Patsy Toney of Chapmansville.
