George William Barker Jr., 83, of Dresden died Feb. 8, 2011, at VanAyer Manor Nursing Home in Martin. Among his survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Debbie Barker of Rives and Danny and Debbie Barker of Hornbeak.
A memorial service is planned in Arkansas in the future. White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
He was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Arkansas, son of the late Minnie (Williamson) and George W. Barker Sr. He was an assembly man for the former Dico Corp. in Dresden and was a Baptist.
He is also survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Gonzales of DeWitt, Ark., Dottie and Edward Jarred of Dover and Marie and Jerry Mathews of Fisher, Ark.; three other sons and another daughter-in-law, Tony and Jan Barker of Martin, Phillip Barker of Dover and Robert Barker of Kentucky; and 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Birdsong; and his grandson, Kevin Barker.
