January window displays included a snow scene titled, “Reading is Cool” and “Remembering Martin Luther King Jr.”

The Sharon library director’s resignation became effective Jan. 5. With the help of Linda Broom, Ginger Byars, Marlow Peters and members of the local library board working together, they were able to maintain regular hours until a new director could be hired and trained.

Monetary donations from members Mary Ellen Simpson, Martha Jim Roberts, Dimple Roberts, Russell Fisher, Jack Harris Jr. and Gentry Landrum were received this month. All donations are appreciated.

Book Buzz, the book review group, meets on the fourth Thursday each month. Several books were reviewed and discussed at the January meeting. The group read 54 books. Why not join them on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m. in the library?

Pre-school story time meets weekly on Thursday mornings at 10:30 in the library. In January the children enjoyed listening to stories read to them, coloring pictures, drawing pictures watching a DVD, putting jigsaw puzzles together, playing games, using the computers and using their library cards to check out books.
