Robert Leamon Lewis, 83, of Union City died at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City Jan. 31, 2011.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Drs. Cecil Sewell and Howard Ragsdale officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Brent Callicott, Jim Bondurant, Bob Carpenter, Chapy Ingersoll, Lonzo King, Stan Kenton and Doug Pair. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Carlton Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, members of the Hardee’s Coffee Club and Leroy Perryman, Everett “Snooks” Guess, Lanny Callicott, Carol Menees and Malcolm Jetton.
The family requests that memorials be made to Union City First Baptist Church; the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home; or ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.
He was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Bremen, Ky., son of the late Robert David and Viola (Gross) Lewis. He married the former Lois Stovall Dec. 25, 1949. She survives. He had been employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 35 years and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Union City First Baptist Church and the Carlton Sunday School Class and had been a Sunday school teacher and served as an usher for 20 years. He also served on several church committees. He was a Mason and had been a member of Union City Civitan Club.
Survivors also include his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Mary Angela Lewis of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Lewis and Ben Lewis, both of Cincinnati.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Noffsinger, Irene Warner, Dorothy Ward and Mary Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
