Union City police are investigating yet another suspicious fire that has occurred in recent days in the northern section of the city.
Police responded about 3:13 a.m. Monday to a report of a vehicle fire at 1301 Mercer St. and arrived to find a utility truck in the middle lot section of East College Court, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The cab of the vehicle — a chipper truck with a wood chipper attached to the rear — was fully engulfed in flames.
The Union City Fire Department extinguished the blaze. A fire department official told police he observed fuel on the ground when he approached the truck.
Union City police are continuing to investigate three other suspicious fires that broke out about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. They included separate blazes at a house and a shed on North Morgan Street and a vehicle on North Home Street, according to police reports.
Anyone who has information about any of the suspicious fires is asked to contact the Union City Police Department at 885-1515 or Crime Stoppers at 885-TIPS (8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers are guaranteed anonymity and could earn rewards for tips that solve cases.
