An apparent burglary attempt at a North Clover Street convenience store is under investigation by Union City police.
Police responded about 2:55 a.m. today to an alarm at the Sudden Service Store at 1005 North Clover St.
Upon arrival, an officer noticed there was glass breakage to the front door, according to a Union City Police Department report. As the officer approached, he observed a large rock lying directly in front of the glass doors. The glass to the left door was shattered but not broken out.
The store’s surveillance camera showed a black man — with a white sheet draped over him — throwing a rock into the door twice about 15 minutes earlier, according to the police report.
