Rose Huey was honored recently for her years of service to the community at an event at Ellington Hall near Tiptonville.
Members of congregations such as Proctor City Church of God in Tiptonville, the first church she pastored; Graves Chapel Church of God and Hornbeak Pentecostal Church, both in Hornbeak; and her most recent affiliation, Samburg Pentecostal Church, as well as representatives of Golden Living Center in Union City, where her ministry has inspired many, were on hand.
The honoree and her guests enjoyed a delicious potluck supper and a blessed time of reminiscing.
“Sister Rose,” as she is affectionately known, has served in the ministry for 50 years and has touched many lives, a spokesman said.
Singers who took a special part in the program honoring her included Hershel and Jean Tittle, Jimmy Leake and their group, Blessed Assurance; and the former Reelfoot Gospel singers: Portia Bennett, Janice Staggs, the Rev. Ruth Green, May Simpson and Debbie Bennett of Union City.
Sheila Rinks and Pam Hoffman, both of Samburg Pentecostal Church, helped the hosts organize a wonderful video filled with memories.
The hosts said the honoree was overwhelmed at the turnout and said, “Heaven will surely be worth it all.”
