Completed arrangements are being announced for Opal (Beachum) Orr, 86, of Hornbeak, who died Jan. 26, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Pat Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Friday.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Baker, Kenneth Sanders, Chad Baker, Josh Murphy, Wayne Cranford and Seth Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Burpo, Billy Corcoran, Ricky Cranford, Jimmy Beachum, Kenneth Orr, Homer Orr and Billy Wayne Orr.
The family requests that memorials be made to Antioch Cemetery Association.
She was born April 4, 1924, in Obion County, daughter of the late John Grover and Clora (Davis) Beachum. She married John Robert Orr Aug. 8, 1942. He died April 9, 2010. She was a retired employee of the Obion County School System, serving for more than 25 years as a librarian and a teacher’s assistant at the former Hornbeak Elementary School. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary for more than 40 years, and was a member of the cemetery association. She was also active in many civic organization.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Ronald Baker of Union City and Paula and Kenneth Sanders of Obion; five grandchildren and their spouses, Chad and Kim Baker of Oakland, Blake and Josh Murphy of South Fulton, and Brooke Knipper, Lauri and Tab Ragsdale and Jeni Sanders, all of Union City; six great-grandchildren, Olivia Baker of Oakland, Allison Murphy and Ella Kate, both of South Fulton, and Natalie Williams, Chase Ragsdale and Will Ragsdale, all of Union City; two sisters, Pauline Cranford and Bessie Wood, both of Union City; and her brother, Clyde Beachum of Howell, Mich.
