A fund raiser is planned in memory of 16-year-old Carlee Morse, granddaughter of Molene Marshall and niece of Sherry Johnston and Doris Marshall, all of Obion County.
Miss Morse’s mother, Lori Marshall, reported her daughter missing to police in Westland, Mich., Aug. 20. Ninety days later, her family learned that Miss Morse had been murdered. Two suspects have been apprehended, but her body has never been found.
Organizers say Miss Morse frequently visited her grandmother in this area, attending Reelfoot Baptist Church, where she was baptized. They say she hoped to move to Obion County. Now, her family hopes to recover her body and bring it here for burial with her family. The fund raiser, with money directed to the Carlee Morse Memorial Fund, will help the family bear the expense of completing that plan.
Friends will be selling barbecue plates for $7 on Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at Woodland Mills Civic Center. There will also be a cake raffle, an auction of items donated by local businesses and individuals and entertainment provided by singers from local churches. In addition, the group will accept orders for whole Boston butts for $25. Call Leslea Costello at 885-5996 or (731) 613-1267 or call 335-3170 or 446-4158 to place an order.
