The death of a 14-month-old child is under investigation today by the Fulton Police Department.
The girl was found face-down in a bucket of bleach water in the kitchen of the residence at 228 Vernon St. in Fulton shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, according to Fulton Police Chief Terry Powell.
The Twin Cities Ambu-lance Service responded and transported the child to Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton, where she was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m.
The Fulton County (Ky.) coroner and the Department of Social Services were contacted to initiate an investigation, according to Powell.
The child’s body was transported to the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville, Ky., for autopsy.
“The incident is currently being investigated by all three agencies — Social Services, the coroner’s office and the Fulton Police Department — to gather the facts of the case for the commonwealth attorney to review and make the determination what, if any, charges should be filed,” Powell said at press time today.
