No injuries were reported early Sunday when a vehicle struck a portion of a house on North Division Street in Union City.
Matthew Brian Barner, 21, of 419 East College St., Union City, told police he was southbound on North Division Street about 5 a.m. when he lost control of the 2001 Dodge R15 pickup truck he was driving and ran off the roadway on the east side, then over a mailbox, through a fence and into the northern-most porch post and base of the residence at 415 North Division St.
According to a Union City Police Department report, Barner left the scene and went to his residence.
He returned while police were investigating the crash about 7:15 a.m. and told police it had occurred about 5 a.m.
The fence and residence at 415 North Division St. are owned by Margie Grooms.
Barner was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage, failure to maintain vehicle in traffic lane and no driver’s license in possession, police reported.
