BREAKING NEWS: OBION COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM TOURNAMENT AND UCMS GIRLS GAME POSTPONED
Posted: Thursday, January 20, 2011 12:20 pm
The Obion County School System Tournament has taken a snow day.
The annual event that determines the league’s champion — originally slated to begin this evening at South Fulton — has been postponed due to the threat of inclement weather.
As a result, the OCSS tournament will now begin on Saturday inside the SF gym (weather permitting).
The play-in games featuring the No. 4 and 5 seeds are now first on Saturday’s slate.
At 4 p.m., the Black Oak and Lake Road girls do battle. Meanwhile, the BO boys and Hillcrest guys take to the court about 5:30.
Also, in the altered snow schedule, the No. 2 seeded Hillcrest girls will play Ridgemont at 7 on Saturday in a semifinal contest. The final game on Saturday will pit the second-seeded boys’ team — Lake Road — against three-time defending OCSS champion South Fulton at 8:30 with a berth in the title round on the line.
Monday’s semifinal action will have top girls’ seed South Fulton taking on the winner of Saturday’s Black Oak-Lake Road girls’ game at 6. No. 1 boys’ team Ridgemont will play the winner of BO-H’crest in Monday’s second contest.
The tournament’s championship round is now slated for next Thursday.
In other middle school basketball news, Union City knows where it stands and who it will play in the West Tennessee Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Lady Twisters are the No. 4 seed in the North Division. That means the locals are slated to travel to Munford eventually.
The UC girls were to play tonight, but that game has been postponed with no make-up date given by head coach Lisa Williams.
Meanwhile, the undefeated Union City boys (15-0) are scheduled to host Crestview on Friday at 6 in the WTAC Tournament.
