JACKSON (AP) — Lambuth University has filed an appeal after being stripped of accreditation.
The liberal arts school was told last month by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools that the group would remove Lambuth from membership.
The Jackson Sun quoted President Bill Seymour, who said last week the school has filed its appeal.
The U.S. Department of Education defines accred-itation as assurance that a college’s education meets quality benchmarks. Universities and colleges that are not accredited can’t participate in federal student loan programs.
