Hillcrest sweep of BO sets final OCSS standings

Hillcrest sweep of BO sets final OCSS standings
Hillcrest knows where it stands in regard to the Obion County School System Tournament.
So do the other four participating schools.
The Lady Cougars defeated Black Oak 36-24 in a make-up contest on Tuesday evening to claim the No. 2 seed in the OCSS standings.
With the defeat, the BO girls — last year’s OCSS champion — finish fifth in the league’s regular season pecking order.
In the nightcap Tuesday, the H’crest boys routed BO 37-16.
With the victory, the Cougars at least have momentum on their side heading into Thursday’s OCSS Tournament play-in game (weather permitting) between the No. 4 and 5 boys’ seeds.
Hillcrest will meet Black Oak, which gained the fourth seed via a coin toss in that game set to begin within the confines of the South Fulton gym around 7:30.
The play-in game between the fourth- and fifth-seeded girls teams (BO and Lake Road) is set to tip off at 6 on Thursday.
Semifinal action in the OCSS Tournament is scheduled for Saturday.
No. 1 girls’ seed South Fulton will take on the winner of Thursday’s LR-Black Oak game at 4.
Then at 5:30, the top boys’ seed Ridgemont does battle against the winner of Thursday’s contest between the Eagles and Hillcrest.
The second-seeded Hill-crest girls take to the court against Ridgemont on Saturday at 7 in the second girls’ semifinal of the day. Lake Road and the host SF hit the hardwood in Saturday’s final contest — a boys’ semifinal battle — at 8:30.
The championship round is scheduled for Monday.
The girls’ game will begin at 6 p.m. with the boys’ contest to follow.
Admission for each day/night of action is $5.
Doors will open one hour before the first contest of each day or night.
A snow schedule has been drawn up in the case that Thursday’s forecasted winter weather makes roads impassable and play impossible.
The following is a summary of Tuesday evening’s doubleheader featuring both Hillcrest and Black Oak.
