A Tennessee agriculture official says farmers are increasingly in control of their own marketing.
Pamela Bartholomew, agritourism coordinator with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, pointed to Facebook and Twitter as ways for farmers to promote their business.
To that end, the state sponsored a conference, “Tennessee Agritourism: Cultivating Farm Revenue,” last week at Pickwick Landing State Park.
Agritourism involves inviting the public to farms for activities or farm products, such as an orchard, pumpkin or berry patch, corn maze or hayrides.
