WLJT will air the state’s inauguration ceremony and parade on Saturday, Jan. 15 in a live broadcast from Nashville. 2011 Tennessee Inaugural: Governor Bill Haslam will air from 11 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m. across the state on public television stations. The broadcast will be hosted by well-known radio and television personality Bill Cody.

Bill Haslam is a native of Knoxville. After graduating from Emory University in 1980, he went to work at Pilot, the company his father founded. From there he worked his way up to President and director of the company. After this achievement and with much support from colleagues, family and friends, he successfully ran for mayor of Knoxville in 2003. After being re-elected to office in 2007, he decided to take the plunge and run for Governor of Tennessee this past year.

Award-winning producer Tim Weeks will give Tennessee viewers the opportunity to have a front row seat at the inauguration ceremony of the state’s 49th governor. The broadcast will also include the parade following the ceremony. More information about all of the inaugural events can be found at http://www.billhaslam.net/events.

Host Bill Cody’s nationally and internationally known voice has been heard over the air waves for 40 years. A 2008 inductee into the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall of Fame, Bill is in his 16th year as the Morning Show host on WSM. Bill also hosts the GAC TV “Master Series” and is a co-host of Tennessee’s Wild Side, which airs across the state on Tennessee’s public television stations.

Tim Weeks has produced programs for public television, including Great Smoky Mountains: Code Blue and served as contributing producer and writer for All*Star Bluegrass Celebration, and Rounder Records 40th Anniversary. Most recently, Weeks produced the Republican Gubernatorial Forum last May, and the half-hour pre-election interview shows with the gubernatorial candidates.

“WLJT, along with the other Tennessee public television stations, are excited to be able to provide viewers with a chance to be a part of this historic event,” stated Monica Shumake, WLJT General Manager.
