Bro. Tony Michael used Philippians 2:12-16 for his morning sermon text on Jan. 9. He told us if our work for the Lord is drudgery then maybe we are not doing the will of the Lord. Bro. Tony has challenged us to read the Bible through this year. He said if you read about three chapters a day you will be able to read it through in a year. Paul Crawford figured it up and you would actually have to read 3.25 chapters a day to get this done.
At altar prayer time we prayed and dedicated a prayer shawl for Sandra McCrary to the Lord. She is doing much better but still needs our prayers. This white shawl was made by Janet Vowell, who also made the one that was given to Charlene Wilson last week. I am sorry that I reported that Ann Martin had made that shawl. We are very grateful for the efforts of Ann, Janet and Christine Upchurch for keeping this wonderful ministry going at our church.
At the end of our morning service we had one lady move her membership to our church from her home church in Milan.
Our Women On Mission will have their monthly meeting at the church Wednesday night. We also have Children In Action for grades 1-6 that will be meeting.
There will be a men’s conference in March at the Second Baptist Church in Union City. James Merritt will be the speaker.
The R. G. Lee Classes will be starting at the Weakley County Baptist Associational Office on Jan. 24. Gary and Debbie Casey from our church have been attending these classes for a long time. College credit is available for taking these courses.
Sunday night Bro. Tony read from Hebrews 10:19-25. The subject of this sermon was how your access to God can stay as it should be.
Bro. Tony and Judy visited with Mary Cramer and family and with Dorothy and Ed Kern, who have moved to Paris to be closer to their doctors.
Glad to hear that Jerry Simmons is improving following stint placement and a hospital stay last week.
There will be a fundraiser for the Ore Springs Como Volunteer Fire Dept sometime in February. This event is being planned by some of the ladies in our community. Plans now are for a chili supper, a silent auction and bingo. Sounds like a fun night for a good cause. Anyone wishing to donate items, food or help work this event, contact Donna Legens at 364-5494.
