Yates, 78, of South Fulton who died 2:20 a.m. Jan. 13, 2011, at her home. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with the Rev. William “Bill” Tate officiating. Entombment will follow at Obion County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. She was born May 21, 1932, in Graves County, Ky. She had lived in this area all her life and had been the secretary for the Fulton City Schools Board of Education. She was a member of Fulton First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Virgil Dale Yates of South Fulton and John Keim Yates of Dresden; and her granddaughter, Margaret Lynn Yates of South Fulton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Virgil Yates; her mother and stepfather, Erland (Norphlett) and Oakley Ballard; and her brother, Joseph Champ Reaves.
