FRANKLIN(AP) — A Civil War bullet was turned over to the Battle of Franklin Trust recently.
The bullet is believed to have been the one that killed Confederate Capt. Tod Carter in 1864.
According to The Tennessean, Carter had not seen his Franklin home in three years when he returned to the town, fought in the Battle of Franklin and was killed.
The bullet was given to the trust by Carter Conway, the great-great-nephew of Carter.
Conway told the paper the bullet was “something that I ought not to leave around.”
