We at Van Ayer Healthcare & Rehab want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! The year of 2010 was a wonderful year for the residents and staff. Fun activities were played in two daily sessions and several parties were held for specific celebrations. We look forward to the year of 2011 which includes a variety of daily activities and parties for special occasions as well. We welcome anyone to our friendly and warm-filled atmosphere to attend any activity that may be conducted during the week.
Several activities were enjoyed by our residents this past week. A few include BINGO, Country Store, and Manicures. The residents also participated in an activity called All About the States in which the residents learned about the state of Iowa and played games. A new state is explored every couple of weeks. The residents enjoy learning something new about each and every state. They have already explored over half of the states! The residents also enjoyed a sewing class this past week. The residents used their talented hands and fingers for quilt-making.
A few upcoming activities next week include BINGO, Country Store, Balloon Toss, Sewing Class, and Bunko. On Friday the residents will get to enjoy popcorn in the lobby. The popcorn will be specially made by our Activities Director, Jennifer Sykes, in our circus style popcorn machine. The aroma of fresh popped, buttery popcorn fills the air in the facility and the residents always enjoy the extra snack and socialization.
We would like to announce our Resident of the Month. For the month of January, 2011, Ms. Pansy Powers is selected as our Resident of the Month. She was born in Greenfield and spent most of her childhood there as well. She is a homemaker and has a strong faith in God. She enjoys traveling and talking with residents. She is a very sweet and caring person. We are honored to have Ms. Pansy with us in our family. Congratulations Ms. Pansy!
