Area junior highs
announce make-ups

Plans have been announced regarding the four junior high basketball games that were postponed on Monday due to winter weather.
Three of the twinbills are to be made up, while Lake Road’s outing at Martin has been cancelled.
In the first rescheduled outing set to take place, Union City will travel to Northview Thursday for its regular-season finale.
Meanwhile, Ridgemont is to host South Fulton Monday, while Black Oak will play at Hillcrest next Tuesday.
Postseason play for all local jayvee squads is scheduled to be finalized later this week.

OVC inks big deal
with apparel giant

The Ohio Valley Conference and IMG College — the league’s exclusive multimedia rights partner — announced a three-year sponsorship deal with Adidas® on Monday.
The deal makes Adidas® “the official provider of OVC championship apparel.” The company will provide T-shirts to the winners of all 18 OVC championships as well as apparel for championship event staff. The new deal also makes the sportswear manufacturer the exclusive sponsor to the OVC in the athletic apparel category.
As part of the deal the league will re-brand its Conference Player of the Week awards the Adidas® OVC Player of the Week.

UT tight end Stocker
to play in Sr. Bowl

KNOXVILLE (AP) — Tennessee tight end Luke Stocker has been selected to play in the 2011 Senior Bowl.
Stocker, Alabama’s Preston Dial and Arkansas’ D.J. Williams will fill out the tight end roster for the South squad in the Jan. 29 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
Stocker’s senior season with the Volunteers was his best. He had a career-high 39 catches and 417 yards receiving while catching two touchdown passes and starting every game in 2010. For his career, Stocker caught 85 passes for 956 yards and eight touchdowns.
The 6-foot-6, 253-pound Berea, Ky., native has been projected to be among the top tight ends taken in the 2011 NFL Draft.
