Hope everyone had a great holiday!
On Wednesday night, Dec. 29, we sang “Wonderful Words of Life.” Our talk tonight was, “If Jesus asked you, ‘How did I do this year,’ how would you answer Him?” Could you ask yourself, “Did I do something for Him that I should have done?” Looking ahead, we have a New Year coming. We should ask ourselves, “What am I doing to further the kingdom?”
On Friday night, Kerry and I went to the Watch Night service at Pleasant View. We enjoyed it very much.
On Saturday, we went to Nashville to see our friends, Bill and Barbara Riddle. She has been in Vanderbilt for a couple of weeks. Hopefully she will be dismissed Tuesday. Please keep them in your prayers. Barb is battling pancreatic/liver cancer.
On this Lord’s Day, we had a good day. Our songs of praise were, “Blessed Assurance,” “Leaning On the Everlasting Arms,” “Rock Of Ages,” “I’ll Fly Away,” and “Sweet By and By.” Bro. Kieth’s text was from Proverbs 16:2,25; 21:2, 1 Samuel 16:7 and Matthew 22:36-40. As we start this New Year, let the Lord be part of it! Focus on Him; quit playing church! Most of the time we just go through the motions of just going to church on Sunday morning and we then think that is enough and it is not!
In the evening, the congregation sang, “When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder,” “Face To Face With Christ My Savior,” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” Joe and Dawn Dyer sang, “Precious Memories.” Dawn and her daughter KyLee sang, “Better Than A Hallelujah.” Kerry read the names of those that had passed away during this year from our church and area. Bro. Kieth’s text was from 1 Cor. 15:51-58 and 1 Thess. 4:13-18.
