DHS swats Rockets out of orbit

The Lions swatted the Rockets back to Earth, winning, 75-56, Monday night.
The Lady Lions made it a sweep via a 64-35 triumph.
In the boys game, Dresden came alive in the third quarter, pouring in 25 points. Ahead 34-31 at halftime, the Lions allowed Clarksburg to pull within a point, 41-40, on Devon Bailey’s trey and layup and a Jarvis Pearson 8-footer with 95 seconds off the clock.
From there, Lions Jacob Vallee and Tyler McPeak went to work. The pair scored or assisted on nine points in an 11-2 run. The duo also crashed the boards and came up with steals during the outburst that lifted Dresden to a 52-42 lead.
When the fourth quarter started, DHS was up by a dozen, 59-47. The lead peaked at 18, 74-54, on Dale Hutcherson’s free throw with 49 ticks left.
Daniel Harris, who scored 21 of his 27 points before halftime, led all scorers. McPeak finished with 15 points and Vallee added 10.
In the girls game, when the 3-pointers started falling in, Dresden pulled away. Jessica Jones and Jesica Parsley each drilled a trey late in the first frame as DHS led 16-5 after a quarter.
Dresden’s lead was 35-15 at halftime and 53-24 after three en route to the 64-35 win.
Amy McAlpin topped all scorers with 17 points for DHS, while Alex Glisson added 11 and Parsley 10.
