Smoking banned at hospitals

KNOXVILLE (AP) — A smoking ban has gone into effect at five Knoxville area hospitals with designated smoking shelters being torn down.
WVLT-TV in Knoxville reports that the ban applies to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Blount Memorial Hospital, Covenant Health, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital and Mercy Health Partners.
It applies to employees, visitors and patients.
Hospitals have offered workers help with quitting.
Employees who are found breaking the new policy could face disciplinary action.
