MEMPHIS (AP) — A new health report lists Tennessee as tops in the nation for immunizing children against disease.
The report from America’s Health Rankings shows Tennessee is first in immunizing children ages 19 months to 35 months against selected diseases. The report said 94.1 percent of those children have been inoculated.
Tennessee Health Commissioner Susan R. Cooper is quoted by The Commercial Appeal as saying the state had set a goal of improving immunization rates.
Medical director Kelly Moore says state health officials are working to improve the immunization rates among adults and teens as well.
