The Madison Academic Mustangs used a 17-0 first-quarter run to take control and defeat the Gleason Bulldogs, 57-33, in the 46th Annual Martin Lions Club Christmas Tournament  on Thursday afternoon.
Coming off their first win of the season, Gleason was ahead, 5-2, on a Ben Rollins drive and a 3-pointer by Thomas Fowler before the Mustangs erupted into the lead by forcing the Bulldogs into four consecutive turnovers resulting in fastbreak opportunities.
Gleason trailed 25-10 after a quarter and 40-22 at the halftime break. The Mustangs took a 46-30 lead into the fourth frame.
Ben Rollins led GHS scorers with 11 points.
