REMEMBER WHEN – Former county mayor Ron Gifford (left) made headlines early on in 2010 when he picked up qualifying papers in an attempt to unseat current county mayor Houston Patrick in the Democratic primary. He opted not to seek the seat at the advice of his doctor. In April, Gifford passed leaving his friends and supporters behind to mourn his loss. Mother Nature (center) made her presence known quite well throughout the past year dishing out unforgettable accumulating snow in January and February. Community member John Hatler snapped this picturesque scene. Con. John Tanner (right) oped to retire after two decades of service in public office. He was on hand at the Gleason war monument dedication ceremony in the spring with Bob Fanning, who helped commission the memorial.
