Travis Austin Taylor, 22, of Union City, a student at the University of Tennessee at Martin, died Jan. 1, 2011, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin after a single-car automobile accident.
Services were set for 2 p.m. today at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Leggett and Clint Wilson officiating. Burial was to follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were to be Cory Wilcox, Josh Hogan, Justin Speed, Jared Willcutt, Spencer Minyard and Scottie Somerville. Honorary pallbearers were to be employees of Union City’s Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse in Union City and Alan Taylor, Brett Taylor, Lee Taylor, Madison Raines, Jeremy Finch, Jerry Ward II, Joey Faulkner and Adam Battles.
The family requests that memorials be made to Vanderbilt Medical Center donor’s program in Nashville or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
He was born Nov. 29, 1988, in Union City, son of Terry and Lynn (Guess) Taylor of Union City. He was a graduate of Obion County Central High School and attended Lake Road Baptist Church.
He is also survived by his grandmothers, Imogene Guess of Union City and Zelma Puckett of Obion; four aunts and uncles, Jane and Randall Perry, Melinda and Gary McBride and Sherry and Mike Taylor, all of Union City, and Nancy and Earl Taylor of Yorkville; and five cousins, Alan Taylor and Brett Taylor, both of Troy, Lee Taylor of Memphis, Jeremy Finch of Martin and Madison Raines of Union City.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Guess and John Taylor.
